Terms of Service

Effective date: June 2, 2026

Please read these Terms carefully before using GMapsScout. By installing the extension, accessing gmapsscout.com, or using any GMapsScout product, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. Agreement to Terms

These Terms of Service ("Terms") constitute a legally binding agreement between you ("User", "you") and GMapsScout ("we", "us", "our"), governing your access to and use of gmapsscout.com and the GMapsScout Chrome extension (collectively, the "Service").

By using the Service in any way — including installing the extension, visiting our website, or accessing any feature — you represent that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms. Your agreement is captured electronically and has the same legal effect as a handwritten signature under the Electronic Signatures in Global and National Commerce Act (E-SIGN) and applicable state law.

If you are using the Service on behalf of a company or other legal entity, you represent that you have authority to bind that entity to these Terms.

2. The Service

GMapsScout provides a Chrome browser extension and related web services that allow users to view, collect, and organize publicly visible business information, and to export that information in various formats (the "Service"). The Service has two main functions:

  • Lead collection. The extension reads business information (such as names, categories, ratings, phone numbers, and addresses) that is already rendered and visible on Google Maps as you browse it.
  • Lead enrichment (optional). When you choose to enrich a lead, the extension instructs your browser to open and load that business's own publicly accessible website — and may load several of its public pages (for example, a “Contact” or “About” page) — to read publicly displayed information such as email addresses, social media links, and business owner names. This activity originates from your browser and your network connection.

The Service operates within your browser and reads only information that is already publicly rendered and visible to any ordinary visitor of the relevant webpage. GMapsScout does not log into, bypass authentication for, or access any data that is not already publicly displayed.

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time without notice or liability.

3. Payments, Subscriptions & Refunds

Plans & Billing

GMapsScout offers a free tier and two paid subscription plans (Basic at $24.99/month and Pro at $49.99/month). Paid plans are billed monthly on a recurring basis via Stripe. By starting a paid subscription, you authorize GMapsScout to charge your payment method on a recurring monthly basis until you cancel.

All prices are in US dollars. We reserve the right to change pricing at any time; price changes will be communicated at least 14 days in advance and will take effect at your next billing cycle.

Cancellation

You may cancel your subscription at any time by clicking the Manage Subscription link inside the GMapsScout extension. Cancellation takes effect immediately and stops all future billing. Cancellation does not entitle you to a refund of any amounts already charged for the current or past billing periods. You retain access to your paid plan features until the end of the current billing period.

7-Day Money-Back Guarantee

We offer a 7-day money-back guarantee on your first payment only. If you are not satisfied with the Service, you may request a full refund of your first charge by emailing scout@gmapsscout.com within 7 calendar days of the initial charge date. Include your account email and the reason for your request.

After 7 days, refunds are issued at our sole discretion. Partial refunds and prorated refunds for unused subscription time are not provided. Refund requests submitted more than 7 days after the charge date may be denied without further explanation.

Refunds, when approved, are processed back to the original payment method within 5–10 business days, subject to your bank or card issuer's processing times. GMapsScout is not responsible for delays caused by your financial institution.

Chargebacks

If you initiate a chargeback or payment dispute with your bank or card issuer before contacting us for a refund, we reserve the right to permanently suspend your account. We encourage you to contact us first — we will work to resolve any billing issue promptly.

Michigan Consumer Protection: Michigan residents may have additional rights under the Michigan Consumer Protection Act (MCL 445.901 et seq.) and other applicable state consumer protection laws. Nothing in these Terms waives any rights you may have under Michigan or federal consumer protection law. For billing inquiries, contact us at scout@gmapsscout.com.

Plan Changes & Pricing Updates

We may change our plans, features, prices, or usage limits at any time. The following rules apply:

Prices for existing subscribers

If you have an active paid subscription, the price you signed up at will continue for as long as your subscription remains active and uninterrupted. We will not increase the price of an existing active subscription. If you cancel and later resubscribe, the then-current price applies.

Prices for new subscribers

Prices listed on our website apply to new sign-ups and may change at any time without notice. All prices are displayed in US dollars (USD). Applicable taxes (including VAT, GST, or sales tax) may be added at checkout depending on your country or state of residence.

Free plan limits

Free plan quotas (monthly leads, enrichments) may change for new accounts at any time without notice. We aim to honor existing free accounts' limits at the time they signed up, but reserve the right to apply reasonable limit changes to all accounts (paid and free) where required for service stability, fraud prevention, or compliance.

Feature changes

We may add, modify, or remove features at any time. Material feature removals affecting your subscription will be communicated by email at least 14 days in advance, and you may cancel for a prorated refund if a removed feature was material to your purchase.

New plans and tiers

We may introduce new plans, tiers, or pricing structures at any time. Existing customers are not automatically migrated to new plans or pricing structures.

GMapsScout does not claim any partnership, agency relationship, or authorization from Google. References to Google Maps in our marketing materials are solely to describe the third-party platform with which our extension is compatible.

  • Violate, circumvent, or attempt to circumvent the Terms of Service, robots.txt directives, rate limits, or access controls of Google, Google Maps, or any other third-party website;

  • Use the Service for any purpose other than lawful business prospecting and lead generation.

Violation of this section may result in immediate termination of your access to the Service. You will be solely responsible for any resulting legal claims, fines, penalties, or damages.

7. Third-Party Websites & Their Terms of Service

The Service enables you to collect publicly visible information from third-party websites, including Google Maps. Those websites have their own Terms of Service, and your use of those websites — including while using our extension — is subject to those terms.

We make no representation or warranty that your use of the Service complies with the Terms of Service of Google, Google Maps, or any other third-party website. You are solely responsible for reviewing and complying with the terms of any third-party website from which you collect data.

Platform Enforcement Actions & Account Risk

Google and other third-party platforms actively detect and respond to automated or high-volume access patterns. By using GMapsScout, you acknowledge and expressly accept the following risks:

  • Google may block your IP address or IP range from accessing Google Maps or any other Google service, temporarily or permanently;
  • Google may suspend or permanently terminate your Google account, including your Gmail, Google Workspace, Google Ads, or any other associated Google product;
  • Google may restrict or revoke your access to Google Maps at the browser, account, or network level;
  • Your internet service provider may flag, throttle, or block automated traffic originating from your network;
  • Google may pursue legal action against users who violate its Terms of Service at scale.

GMapsScout has no control over, and bears absolutely no responsibility for, any enforcement action taken by Google or any other third-party platform against you, your device, your IP address, your accounts, or your organization as a result of your use of the Service.

GMapsScout will not reimburse, compensate, credit, or otherwise be liable for any loss, inconvenience, business disruption, or damage of any kind resulting from platform enforcement actions, including but not limited to IP banning, account suspension, account termination, or loss of access to any Google or third-party service. You assume this risk entirely and voluntarily when you use the Service.

Third-Party Business Websites (Lead Enrichment)

When you use the enrichment feature, the Service causes your browser to visit and read the public pages of third-party business websites that you select. Those websites are operated by independent third parties and are governed by their own terms of use, privacy practices, and technical protections.

You are solely responsible for ensuring that visiting and collecting information from any such website is lawful and permitted. This includes respecting each website's Terms of Service, robots.txt directives, and any rate limits or access controls. You must not use the Service to access any website in a manner that website prohibits.

GMapsScout has no control over, and bears no responsibility for, any consequence arising from your browser visiting third-party websites through the Service, including but not limited to: a website blocking, rate-limiting, or flagging your IP address; a bot-detection or security service (such as a content delivery network or web application firewall) restricting your access; or any claim, complaint, or legal action by a website owner. The risk-acceptance and liability terms in this Section and in Section 12 apply equally to these third-party websites.

8. Your Sole Responsibility for Legal Compliance

You are solely and exclusively responsible for ensuring that your use of the Service and any data obtained through it complies with all applicable laws and regulations — regardless of country or jurisdiction — including those of your own jurisdiction and the jurisdictions of any individuals or businesses whose data you collect.

This includes, without limitation:

  • Determining whether data collection from a particular source is lawful in your jurisdiction;
  • Obtaining any required consents before collecting, storing, or using personal data;
  • Ensuring downstream use of data complies with applicable privacy, data protection, and anti-spam laws;
  • Responding to data subject rights requests (access, deletion, correction) as required by law;
  • Securing any data you collect to prevent unauthorized access or breach.

9. Email Marketing Compliance

If you use data obtained through the Service to send commercial electronic messages, you are solely responsible for complying with all applicable email marketing laws, including:

CAN-SPAM Act (United States)

All commercial emails to US addresses must include accurate sender identification, a non-deceptive subject line, a physical postal address, and a functioning unsubscribe mechanism honored within 10 business days. Penalties up to $53,088 per email.

GDPR (European Union & UK)

Sending commercial email to EU/UK residents requires explicit prior consent. Scraping email addresses and using them for marketing without prior consent is a GDPR violation for EU addresses. Fines up to €20 million or 4% of global revenue.

CASL (Canada)

Explicit prior consent is required before sending any commercial electronic message to Canadian addresses. Fines up to CAD $15 million.

CCPA / CPRA (California)

California residents have the right to opt out of data sale and request deletion. Fines of $100–$750 per affected consumer per incident.

10. Data Collected by the Extension

The GMapsScout extension is designed to operate locally within your browser. We do not collect or transmit the business data you scrape to our servers. Scraped lead data remains on your device unless you explicitly export or sync it.

We may collect limited usage data (such as extension install events and feature interaction analytics) to improve the Service. For full details, see our Privacy Policy.

11. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranty of any kind.

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, GMapsScout expressly disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including but not limited to:

  • Implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement;
  • Any warranty that the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free;
  • Any warranty that data obtained through the Service will be accurate, complete, or reliable;
  • Any warranty that use of the Service will comply with any third-party Terms of Service, including Google's;
  • Any warranty that use of the Service will be legal in your jurisdiction.

You use the Service entirely at your own risk.

12. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law:

In no event shall GMapsScout, its owners, officers, employees, or agents be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, punitive, or exemplary damages, including loss of profits, revenue, data, or business goodwill.

Our total aggregate liability to you for any claim shall not exceed the greater of: (a) the total fees paid by you to GMapsScout in the twelve months preceding the claim, or (b) one hundred US dollars (USD $100).

Without limiting the foregoing, GMapsScout is expressly not liable for:

  • Any IP ban, IP block, or network-level restriction imposed by Google or any third party;
  • Any suspension, restriction, or termination of your Google account or any other account;
  • Any loss of access to Google Maps, Gmail, Google Workspace, or any other Google service;
  • Any legal action brought against you by Google or any third party as a result of your use of the Service;
  • Any business losses, lost revenue, or disruption caused by any of the above.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages. The above limitations may not apply to you in full.

13. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless GMapsScout and its owners, officers, employees, and agents from and against any and all claims, liabilities, damages, and costs (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or related to:

  • Your use or misuse of the Service;
  • Your violation of these Terms or any applicable law;
  • Your violation of the Terms of Service of Google, Google Maps, or any other third-party platform;
  • Your collection, storage, processing, or use of any data obtained through the Service;
  • Your sending of unsolicited commercial communications or violation of any anti-spam law;
  • Any claim by a data subject, regulatory authority, or third party arising from your use of the Service.

14. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service immediately, without notice or liability, for any reason, including if we determine that you have violated these Terms, any applicable law, or any third-party rights.

Upon termination, all rights granted to you under these Terms will immediately cease. Sections 7, 8, 9, 11, 12, 13, and 15 survive termination.

You may stop using the Service at any time by uninstalling the extension and cancelling any active subscription via the Manage Subscription link in the extension.

15. Governing Law & Dispute Resolution

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Michigan, United States, without regard to its conflict of law principles. Users in Michigan have additional rights under the Michigan Consumer Protection Act (MCL 445.901 et seq.) that these Terms do not limit.

Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service shall first be subject to good-faith negotiation. If no resolution is reached within 30 days, the dispute shall be resolved by binding arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association under its Commercial Arbitration Rules, with proceedings conducted in English.

Class action waiver: Any dispute will be resolved on an individual basis only — not as a class action, collective action, or representative proceeding.

Notwithstanding the above, either party may seek injunctive or other equitable relief in any court of competent jurisdiction.

16. Changes to These Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. When we make material changes, we will update the effective date at the top of this page and, where feasible, provide notice via the Service or by email.

Your continued use of the Service after any changes become effective constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms. If you do not agree, you must stop using the Service and uninstall the extension.
