How to Use Radius Scraping to Cover an Entire City

GMapsScout's radius-based scraping mode lets you automatically scan a geographic area without manually running dozens of searches. Here's how to set it up.

Manual search-by-search scraping works fine for small lists, but if you want 500 plumbers across the Dallas-Fort Worth metro, you need radius scraping.

What radius scraping does

Instead of scraping one search at a time, you define a center point and a radius in miles. GMapsScout automatically breaks that area into a grid and runs searches across each zone — then deduplicates the results so you don't get the same business twice.

Setting it up

1. Open GMapsScout and click "Radius Mode" 2. Enter your search keyword ("plumbers", "dentists", etc.) 3. Click your center point on the map, or type a city/address 4. Set your radius (5 miles for dense cities, 20–50 miles for rural coverage) 5. Click Start and let it run

Managing large sessions

For a 50-mile radius with dense coverage, expect 2,000–5,000 leads depending on the niche. The scraper runs in your browser tab — keep it open until complete. Progress is saved automatically so you can pause and resume.

Tips for better results

  • Use smaller radii in dense cities to get tighter overlaps and better coverage
  • Overlap radius zones intentionally if a neighborhood has many targets
  • Run separate sessions by niche rather than broad keywords like "business"
